Thanks to the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust, I'm off to New York and North Carolina in a couple of days. The trip is for me to study how the Judical system in these areas helps to reduce rates of youth crime by enhancing employments opportunites for young offenders. I'll try and post updates as often as I can and let anyone who wants to know, how it's all going.

New York - HOT, to the point of heatstroke. The city has opened "cooling centers" for vulnerable people to go and live until the heat abates. I've talked to a few people regarding the project but everyone is distracted by the heat. Everyone looks like they have basted their faces in butter oil.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, the upshot is that there are a any number of projects being run by the city and privately to help kids get into employment. I need to write up all the conversations and work them into sense. Off to the Carolinas soon. Next post when I get in.
